I'm selling one of my beloved Teletronix LA2A's. This LA2A originally belonged to the legendary studio Mediasound/NY.It was then acquired by the no less legendary Sony Music studio/NY. I bought it myself from Sony when they closed down and it has never left my rack ever since. Like my Blue stripes i just sold, i think it's safe to say this LA2A has never left NY since it was ordered from Bill Putnam, himself.This La2a has recorded a countless number of artists and hit maker. Just read the article above and find out by yourself.This very special unit was manufactured by Teletronix in 1969 or 1970 just before its production stopped for 10 years until 1979.It's almost 40 years old. Its T4B indicate the year 1976 which means the original T4B had needed replacement which doesn't surprise me as this unit must not have had much time to rest @ Mediasound.I doubt you don't know anything about the LA2A. It has become a Classic since its introduction in 1965, you can find it in most World Class studios. They are harder to source because La2a's Rev 1 to Rev3 have not been as mass produced as 1176's Rev A to Rev G from the same era... A ratio of 1:4 sounds about right.Also, World class studios usually own several of them (like Sorcerer sound who owns 6x for instance) and store them either as back up units or as floating units. They are also a great investment as, like most studio classics, they pretty much almost guaranty your money back the day you want to re sell it [Shame on you! :-) ].I've owned 4x other units and don't need to keep them all. I sold one last month for $5500, and now this one. I'll keep the others, so grab your chance before someone else does! Note the one i already sold didn't have any prestigious history . For many, the LA2A IS the go to compressor for vocal and bass. Absolute magic!La2a's, 1176's, 1073's and U67/47 are part of a selected list of the most talked about units in the industry. Not a day goes by without someone mentions these units on Recording forums. A vintage LA-2A is a Must have for any engineer or vocalist seriously committed to his work. It allows you to achieve stellar results in the most simple way!This unit have just been checked by guru tech Ken McKim. The power supply has been replaced with a Sowter PSU. They share the same specs. I don't know if the PSU was changed by Mediasound or Sony. Also, either Mediasound or Sony had the great idea to move the Comp/Limit switch in front of the unit. I don't know why at the time, Teletronix made it so difficult for engineers by installing this feature at the back of the unit. This particular unit is a Rev 3 and was manufactured by Teletronix, and is NOT a re-issue. Very sorry to say, but aside from the common look, the re-issue and this unit do NOT sound the same . It operates under 110V. The new owner will have to change the fuse for 220V operation or use a voltage converter. European potential buyers may contact me.
